A very rich man was very sick and was going to die. One day he asked three different religious leaders to go to his home. He told them that he had a lot of money he wanted to give away. The rule is they must come to his funeral. When his body is being buried in the ground they have to throw in 25 percent of the money to be buried with him. All the three men promised him that they would do as the rich man instructed. After this rich man died, the three religious went to his funeral. Then they went to a bar to have something to drink. They Catholic priest said, "I feel guilty, I need to confess to you, I didn't throw in 25 percent of the money. I only gave him 15 percent." The Protestant Minister said, " I feel guilty, too. I need to confess to you, too. I didn't throw in 25 percent of the money either. I only gave 10 percent." The Jewish Rabbi said, " Oh, How terrible you two are! I feel disgusted with both of you. I wrote a check for 25 percent of the amount to him. I threw in a check for the whole amount." |
